What We Love Today: Getting Sh*t Done!

I procrastinate just as much as the next guy. Maybe even more. But lately I am flying through my to-do list and emptying my inbox. Maybe it's a memory of past springs causing me to be more efficient so I can... go out and ride my bike with my friends? Or... maybe it's my brand new awesome memo pad from Rifle!

Mother's Day Round Up

I'll be honest - it was hard to pick.

Is your mom - (or wife!) - a little bit fancy? A lot fancy? Do you want to drape her in gold and diamonds? Well you should!  Chained to My Heart Necklace  |  Diamond Raindrop Earrings

Give her license to relax.

Not to play favorites, BUT... our very favorite Mother's Day gift is personal, beautiful and easy to give. You Are My Moon & Stars Stackable Necklace

Know a new mama? Are you maybe married to one? This is an extra special Mother's Day for her! A personalized ring with her baby's initial is a lovely way to mark a milestone. And what new mom doesn't need a quick way to make her skin look and smell amazing?

Things I love: Steph G

Steph G. is a major babe. Period.  She loves Modern Family and is always listening to the Beatles. Apparently she plays with her cat's feet a lot (according to an anonymous source) and plays bass in an awesome all-girl band called Desert Sharks.  See I told you.
Here are a few things she loves:

  • My little dreamboat kitties, Simon and Oliver.
  • Making music, singing and playing bass.
  • Avocados on everything.
  • Memory and Mignon rings, especially when stacked.
  • John Lennon and Patti Smith, they inspire me so.
  • My Wild Unknown Tarot deck and guide - I'm pretty much obsessed.
  • DS & Durga Siberian Snow, it's become my signature scent
  • Old pictures of my beautiful relatives (this one is of my grandmother).
  • Photobooths.
  • Having my dad's vintage record player that he got overseas while in Vietnam.

Dream Date: Rita Konig at Home in Manhattan.

We've just had lunch at the Cat Cave (arugula pies from La Nonna, our favorite), the pink shades are rolled higgledy piggledy over open windows, Fleurs de Nuit candles are flickering, the music playing at just the right volume, my desk is a mess.

Non sequitur, but it lines up so nicely inside of my head: Rita Konig's Manhattan apartment is a green little dream, a fully contained small world. I very much enjoyed her columns in British Vogue - this snippet from her Selby interview sums it up:

Q: Tell me about the first memory you have of NYC?
A: The sound of the cars tooting up Park Avenue.

What We Love Today: Avoiding Evil

Given this easy option, I choose to avoid evil by simply slipping on this wee ring, made by one of our favorite favorites. My precious...  Mine is rose gold, and I wear it on my pinky. So far, no evil!

Lunch Lady: Alright Already!

I am so over this.

I don't want snow or hats or coats or boots or cold kitchen floors anymore. I want sun and good music and good friends and fun and long long days on rooftops with ice cold beer.

I also want good food! The kind of food that reminds you that right now someone somewhere is getting tan on a beach with the bluest water you've ever seen. And maybe in a week or two it could be your turn... Don't forget to send me a postcard!

But yes back to the food. Delicious food. Here's where Cafe Mogador comes in- They have THE most amazing Mediterranean food I've ever had in Williamsburg. It's so incredibly perfect. And their backyard is amazing!

I snagged this picture my friend Linda took so you can see what I'm talking about. I wish my living room looked like this but every time I try to keep a plant the poor thing bites the dust in a week or two. C'est la vie.

I went one unseasonably sunny afternoon and had the Hummus Platter and Vegetarian Cous Cous. I might get it again for lunch today because I'm reminding myself how insanely delicious it was. They put raisins on top of my food. Raisins. And it was amazing.

Also the coffee is good and it's just a nice beautiful place to sit and relax and chat with a friend. Or maybe a date. Or brunch! I went for brunch once and it was nice even though I was really in no shape to enjoy anything. Yeah, I want to go back there. Happy Spring, everyone!

<3 Ash

p.s. Here's this amazing song that reminds me of warmer weather ;-)
You're welcome.

Dream Date: Our friend Martha.

Martha makes paintings and jewelry that she shares on her Tumblr, Buried diamond. Martha is the Print Designer for Kate Spade Saturday. Martha makes my chihuahua, Teepee, smile.
