Aaaaaaw!!
This magical couple got engaged AT Catbird today!! He proposed with an absolutely beautiful Yayoi Forest ring - and as chance would have it, Leigh and I were with Yayoi at that very moment, who seemed quite moved when we shared the text with her. So sweet!! Congratulations guys! Thanks for sharing it with us. xoxo
We heart blogs.
East Side Bride has spoken and given one of our favorite new necklaces, the Bittersweets Dainty Heart Necklace, the stamp of approval. The girl knows what's what, so pay attention folks. I too don't lean towards hearts, but this one sings an entirely different tune than most. West Coast in the house. (I know! She's called East Side Bride but she's on the WEST coast. So confusing!)
And then another stamp approval from the lovely Joanna Goddard from A Cup of Jo - a New York bastion of taste and grace. People do indeed use this ring for a wedding ring - sometimes as a stand in before they decide what they want. Or perhaps they take the whole thing in stride and just want to be real casual about it. But even more than the heart, ring we sell this ring with the husband's first initial as a wedding ring. Which I think is really just the sweetest thing.

Clearly this card needs to be at Catbird. Doy.

When in France, please see this for the rest of us back home. The lack of apparent release date for the US is really bumming me out. I've already had 3 Gauloises to console myself.
yours truly,
Leigh

Coquettes, unveiled pt. 1
It's not everyday that LBG from the superlative blog, A Bloomsbury Life, gets in touch to let you know she'll be including some objets from your website on her guest posts at W Magazine's also superlative editor's blog. Well, she did, and she did. Our gold secretary pen took a star turn in her latest guest post, titled "Organizing Chaos." Later on the very same day, Catbird's signature memory ring was cited in another online posting on organizing. Thanks to the amazing Clarissa and her wizardry, I can say that our "office" is up to all these organizing accolades. And I rival you to find a more organized basement on all of Bedford Avenue!
When I say I'm in love, you best believe I'm in love, L-U-V.
Connections, pt 2
This Thomas Paul doll that we've got in the shop reminds me of my friend Liz's painting, Swami BuktaBaby. I'm sure you can see why.
Am I the only one who sees this??
And the winners for the secret-est twins go to...
the dogs of Catbird
Bob came to do his holiday shopping at Catbird. I wish I was on Bob's list.
Think your stuff is right for Catbird?
I am itching, (ITCHING I TELL YOU!!) for new stuff for my teeny shop. Trade shows are coming up, and Leigh and I are doing rigorous eye exercises daily in order to find great new things amidst the schlock. Me and my trusty team, we always do, but it's really not our favorite place to find stuff.
In that vein, we are always on the hunt for under-the-radar talent. Think you got the chops? Bring it on. I look at ALL submissions but I cannot respond to them all. Please see details here, but don't be intimidated by my blathering on and on.
It is, isn't it?
I'm a really big fan of The Small Object. I bought my sister presents from her shop (and, um, I own a shop). I think I need to own this poster. You can buy it here for a mere $20 and awesome up your days.
Photorealism.
This fellow, Glenn Ray Tutor, really seems to know his way around a paint brush. Yes. That's right. A paint brush.
Sale.
Coquettes
We've had 2 highly exciting brushes with press this week. And when I say highly exciting, I mean highly exciting. Think new media, and think old New York, and you'll be on the right track. We'll keep you in the loop, I promise.
New York State of Mind.

Luxirare
We'd very much like to encourage the divine Luxirare's sort of styling for your jewels. We LOVE stacking rings so - we'd be happy to work up a happy mix for you. We'll blast some Led Zeppelin and build beautiful finger temples of love.
Monthly Delights
We have a handful of The Wild Unknown calendars back in stock. They are the greatest thing to happen to the passing of time since those geniuses of antiquity figured out wine.
A-Changin'
by princess fancypants, $65
All of a sudden, I've got a lot of need for these Princess Fancypants hand-stamped copper postcards. Having babies is the thing to do. I can't wait to spoil the daylights out of all my friend-babies. And if baby-fever hasn't hit your social set, no problem- Princess Fancypants does custom postcards, plus we've got a slew of rather cheeky ones in the store.
Pictures of Brooklyn that look like France.
Some of the prettiest pictures of Brooklyn I've ever seen. From this gorgeous French blog by Mademoiselle Eleanor Bridges. What IS it with these young French girls and the pictures they take? Is there a special filter I don't know about? These have the same feel as those taken by The Cherry Blossom Girl - and I am in full coveting mode. Is it a filter, or... do you just need to be French??
Someone please tell me. Vite vite, s'il vous plait.
And now for something completely different.
Even if you don't love baseball (as I do) or enjoy a good drug story (as I also do), there is absolutely no doubt that you will enjoy this. It rules.
